Finding motivation each and every day can be tough…it’s too easy to snooze the alarm to get an extra 15-minutes of sleep, or justify why a task we know must be done today, is okay to do tomorrow…

In this motivating episode of mindset monday, Luigi talks about the power of an accountability buddy and why everyone needs someone to help them to stay motivated.

So instead of being hard on yourself for not doing something. Ask yourself, who do I trust that can help push me when I need that extra motivation?

Yes, it’s tough when things might not be going the way you want them to, but that doesn't mean your goal should change – it’s about putting the right support in place to achieve your goal. An accountability buddy could be just the right way to keep you motivated and stay on track.

[00:00:00] Luigi Prestinenzi: Welcome to Mindset Monday by the sales IQ podcast. I'm your host, Luigi Prestinenzi and I'm here to help you be the best you can be. Everyone has a potential to be the best version of themselves. They can be sometimes things prevent us from capitalizing on that awesomeness that is sitting dormant inside of you.

This podcast is about helping you unlock your potential by focus. One thing that can help you be the very best you can be.

Accountability. That ties commitment to the result. That is a quote by Bob Proctor. And why is that? Quote my quote for Monday mindset today, because sometimes no matter what you do to manufacture that motivation, to achieve the goals that you set out, sometimes finding that accountability, finding that motivation each day to do what you need to do to get the result can be different.

And yes, we hear all the time. We have to find that internal motivation ourselves to drive us. But sometimes we're fatigued. Sometimes we just don't want to do what we know we need to do to get the job. And I'll tell you a bit of a story. We speak a lot about my role as a. The love that I have for being a parent, the things that fall outside of my role as a sales professional.

But my son a few months ago played a game of football or soccer. There's some will we'll call it. And he played a game and he didn't play very well. And he gets in the car and he was upset and he said, yeah, I'm I'm upset. And I said, why are you upset? Cause I didn't play well. I said, okay, I'm sorry that you didn't play well, it must be really frustrating for you mate.

But I asked him a couple of key questions. I asked, did you train during the week or the last couple of weeks? No. His response was, have you been going a bit early playing fortnight playing fortnight? You've been eating well? No. Okay. So I said, well, have you earned the right to play a good game of football?

He said, no. I said, okay. Preparation is the foundation for success. Sit don't expect the result. If you're not putting in the work that will enable you to achieve that result now to his credit, the next morning he got up, he set his alarm or whatever, whatever Tom, it was, I think four 40 in the morning.

Cause he knows I go to the gym early and he asked me if he could come to the gym with me. And at that point is an incredibly proud moment. Because I didn't want to be the dad that, that, you know, like my father did when I was younger, the negative affirmations or, you know, driving, wanting to drive me and, and help me find that internal motivation I'd want it to try to coach him to find that intrinsic motivation himself.

Yes. Again, to his credit, he got up and he said, yeah, I wanna, I want to do this. So we start on this journey together and he's training with me. He'd been training at night after school and he's found this motivation. The last X amount of games has been best on ground, every single game. And he's realized it's not a result of the game day.

It's the preparation he's putting in to achieve that success. However, today, this morning he gets up or actually I went to wake him up because for some reason he wasn't up and he didn't want to. And I said to him, buddy, we've made this commitment together. We're on this journey together. We got to go. And he first, he sort of sad.

I don't want to go, I go, go mate, it's up to you. But you know, this is the junior on. This is when it matters. And to his credit, he got up, got dressed, jumped in the car with me. We went, we did an F 45 session and it was a tough session written line. It was tough. It was pumping. And he labored Trudy hassled.

He grind it to it. I could see the corner of my eye. There was some exercises and we got home and he said to me, dad, thanks. That's it. Thanks for what buddy. Thanks for telling me, you know, asking me to go today. And there it is. Daddy's my message for mindset. Monday is sometimes we need another person to help us be the best we can be.

Sometimes we need that accountability. And I've got it. I've got my accountability, buddy, not just in my fitness area of my life, but my home area. Now, my work area in key areas of my life, I have somebody that can help me drive me to achieve my full potential. And that is my message for this week is no matter how much motivation you might be able to manufacture within an as powerful and as great as it can feel.

To be that person that continues to motivate oneself. There is nothing wrong in getting yourself an accountability buddy, to help you be the very best you can be. And that is in, in any aspect. And I've, you know, read some experts saying, you know, the best accountability you can have is yourself. And yes, but high.

Target woods wires, Rinaldo wider. Some of the best sports plays in the world. Have multiple coaches, multiple people to help them because sometimes you need that extra push, that extra incentive. Find yourself someone you can trust that can help you prepare. Empower you and sometimes tell you what you don't want to hear so that you can be the very best you can be because it's okay to not want to do something.

It's okay to have that feeling of fatigue, but normally you've got somebody there next to you to help push you to be the very best you can be. The most comforting feeling in the world. So if this is a message that's resonated for you or someone, you know, needs to hear this, please like rate share it, DM them because I do this to help you be the very best sales professional you can be.
